What if I told you that the disease you were experiencing in an area of your body is directly related to your mind state? Yes, your personal state of mind can and does affect your physical health. Skeptical? Things like Biofeedback and Progressive Muscle Relaxation have long been used to help people to ground down into their bodies. Taking us out of our heads and back into our bodies so that we can be present in the here and now. We’ve all done this, right? Ever been in a traumatic situation and been told to ‘Breathe’ before? There’s actual Science to this mindfulness technique, deep breathing triggers the parasympathetic nervous system; the part responsible for homeostasis. Our bodies are designed to do this. What happens if we don’t do this though? All the tension caused by our traumatic experience can essentially get trapped in the body, manifesting as dis-ease.
